The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) is calling for ideas to a draft decree that establishes a system of regulations ensuring Viet Nam’s legal timber and wood products qualify for import and export.
Starting from June 1, Viet Nam could export only verified legal timber products to the European markets as the VPA/FLECT would officially enter into force.
Once the EU-Viet Nam Voluntary Partnership Agreement on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (VPA-FLEGT) comes into force, there will be opportunities for Viet Nam to export more wooden products to Europe and other markets.
